Wednesday, 5/6

  • Supergirl picked up to series by CBS
  • iZombie renewed for a second season by The CW
  • The Mindy Project cancelled by FOX after three full seasons, causing an exception to the syndication rule. Hulu is rumored to be looking at a 2 season, 26 episode renewal.

Thursday, 5/7

  • ABC opts not to pick up multi-cam Delores & Jermaine, starring Jermaine Fowler and Whoopi Goldberg
  • Orphan Black renewed for a fourth season by BBC America
  • Phineas and Ferb will be retired by Disney Channel in June. The show produced four seasons over an eight year interval with 222 episodes aired as of this publishing. The series has been in pitched since 1991 before being picked up in 2007, and it currently has aired more episodes than SpongeBobSquarePants.
  • ABC has passed on sitcoms Family Fortune, Knoxville, and The Brainy Bunch.
  • The CW has passed on Tales from the Darkside.
  • NBC orders multicam sitcom People are Talking to series.
  • NBC orders sitcoms Superstore and Crowded (no pun intended) to series.
  • The Messengers cancelled by The CW after airing just three episodes. No word on if it will finish its order. It will still finish its order.
  • The CW decides not to pick up Cheerleader Death Squad, a show many (including myself) had as locks for a pickup for months.
  • The CW picks up Cordon, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and DC’s Legends of To orrow to series. The latter is the formerly untitled spinoff of both Arrow and The Flash. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is an hourlong musical-comedy (think Glee) that was not even a part of pilot season.
  • The CW passes on drama Dead People, concluding their 2015 pilot season.
  • ABC passes on the untitled Judah Miller comedy, as well as sitcom King of 7B.
  • FOX passes on comedy pilot The Perfect Stanleys.
  • Drama Rosewood and comedy The Grinder ordered to series by FOX.
  • ABC opts not to order dramas The Advocate and Kingsmakers. The latter was said to be similar thematically to Revenge, which will air its series finale on Sunday, 5/10.
  • CBS opts not to pick up drama LFE.
  • And the ABC renewals begin! Once Upon A Time has been renewed for a fifth season.
  • FOX orders comedies Grandfathered and The Guide to Surviving Life to series.
  • Surprise! ABC has renewed low-rated bridge series musical comedy Galavant for a second season.
  • ABC orders drama The Catch from Shonda Rhimes, as well as Quantico, Wicked City (a.k.a LA Crime), The Family, Kings and Prophets, Boom, and Untitled Pate and Fishburne Project to series.
  • Forever cancelled after one season by ABC.
  • ABC has ordered comedies The Muppets, The Real O’Neals, and Dr. Ken to series.
  • Cristela cancelled after one season by ABC. 
  • Resurrection cancelled after two seasons by ABC.
  • The Mysteries of Laura *reportedly* cancelled by NBC after one season.
  • Cooking show filler The Taste cancelled by ABC after three seasons (just 23 episodes).
  • America’s Funniest Home Videos, The Bachelor, Dancing with the Stars, Castle, Fresh Off The Boat, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Marvel’s Agent Carter, The Middle, The Goldbergs, Modern Family, Blackish, Nashville, Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to get Away with Murder, American Crime, Shark Tank, Beyond the Tank, Last Man Standing, and Secrets & Lies renewed by ABC.
